There's some good news for women in Saudi Arabia -- they'll finally be allowed to drive. Saudi King Salman made the call on Tuesday, which brings to an end a conservative tradition that was symbolic of the country's repression of women.
Saudi Arabia has been hit by criticism for being the only country around the globe that doesn't allow women to drive, although the country has been slowly easing up on restrictions put on women in recent years.
According to state news agency SPA, the royal decree will be implemented by June 24th, 2018.
Following the official announcement, Saudi ambassador to the U.S., Prince Khaled bin Salman, said it was "an historic and big day in our kingdom." (Reuters)
