14-year-old Kalel Langford was in Arkansas for a baseball tournament when he and his family decided to visit the Crater of Diamonds State Park.
Kalel ended up finding an amazing souvenir there – a 7.77-carat brown diamond, the 7th largest diamond ever found there and the largest brown diamond found in almost 40 years.
While he was lucky to find the diamond, weather conditions certainly helped him. About an inch of rain fell on the search area during the week, which helped uncover stones near the surface.
For now, Kalel thinks he’ll keep the diamond as a memento of his trip, but that plan might just change once he realizes how much money it could potentially be worth. (Arkansas State Parks)
