BREAKING NEWS: One Student Killed, One Injured In Shooting At SAU

According to the Southern Arkansas University Facebook page, the shooting happened after a "brief discussion" in the Reynolds Center parking lot, according to University Police. The student who died was identified as senior Engineering Physics major Joshua Keshun Smith. According to university police, three students who lived off-campus met someone in the parking lot around 12:56 a.m. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the SAU Facebook page, "At approximately 12:56AM, the University Police Department reported three students living off-campus came onto campus and met someone in the parking lot of the Donald W. Reynolds Campus Community Center. After a brief discussion, numerous shots were fired. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. Another student was transported by ambulance to the Magnolia Regional Medical Center and is in stable condition."

No suspects have currently been named, but police are investigating. Updates will be made here as information becomes available.
